You deserve a break, time to relax, enjoy and be with family. However, it is a good idea to use some of your time productively as this can make things easier for you as you start 2010!

Here are a few suggestions:

  1. If you do have standardized tests ahead, make some time to do a few practice tests. You may want to review any PSAT results and see what you got wrong.
  2. Any time to volunteer?  There are lots of possibilities in your community. Examples of initiative and leadership are important in college admissions.
  3. Find time to read for enjoyment. Reading can improve test scores. You’ll find that on many college applications, the question “What do you read for pleasure?” is prevalent
  4. Find some time to learn something new.  Stay up to date on current events.  Do some networking with family, friends and people you meet at parties. Be a good listener.  You never know where opportunities may be
  5. Find a little time to hit the books. Your grades are one of the most important things on your college applications. Try to get ahead in one of your classes or if need be – do some catch up work – You’ll be glad you did when you get back to school.
  6. Take an active role in your community and apply knowledge that you have learned in the classroom. This is impressive to admission officers.
  7. Do find time to relax but also stay active.  Do things that require effort and thought. Choose to take part in things that you like to do as you will be more likely to stick with it and demonstrate continuity in your activities.
